# Quickstart

> From zero to a working agent in about 10 minutes.

This guide takes you from signing up to watching your first agent act on a real integration — in about 10 minutes.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Create your account">
    Go to [app.atako.ai](https://app.atako.ai) and sign up with email (a one-time code) or Google. You land on the **Floor**, one of four storeys — see [The Floor](/guides/the-floor) for how to move around.

    <Tip>
      New companies can start a 14-day free trial with no credit card — up to 3 active agents and 1,500 credits included. The trial is available once per company.
    </Tip>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Create your first agent">
    On the Floor, click **Create an agent** (or press **N**). Drop the new agent on a team, or off to the side to start a new team, then fill in the creation sheet:

    | Section | What to put |
    | - | - |
    | **Identity** | A name, e.g. "Marketing assistant", and its team |
    | **Brief** | Optional — the agent's mission, instructions, and business context |
    | **Harness** | **Hermes** for a general-purpose agent, or **opencode** for a coding agent. See [Engines](/concepts/engines). |
    | **Integrations** | The company connections this agent may use, with read and/or write access |
    | **Inference** | **Atako inference**, or your own provider key |
    | **Model** | Search the catalog, or pick from your favorites and recently used models |

    Click **Create agent**. It shows as **Preparing** while its environment is set up, then switches to **Active**.

    <Note>
      Creating an agent requires either being a company admin or having the **Can create agents** permission granted by one. See [Creating and managing agents](/guides/creating-agents).
    </Note>
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send your first message">
    Click the agent, then open its **Chat** window and type a message. The agent replies in real time — no page refresh needed. Your conversations with an agent are private to you; the agent's memory and files stay shared across the team.

    Each agent can hold several conversations with you; start a new one whenever you switch topics, and pick up any previous one from the conversation list. See [Chat](/guides/chat).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Connect an integration and grant access">
    Go down to the **Context** storey, open the **Integrations** cube, and connect a tool your agent needs (GitHub, Slack, Notion, Gmail, and more). Then open the agent's **Agent settings** and choose exactly which actions — read and/or write — this agent can use on that connection.

    See [Integrations overview](/integrations/overview) and [Permissions](/integrations/permissions) for the full picture.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Activate a channel">
    Chat isn't the only way to reach your agent. Turn on email, webhooks, or a recurring cron schedule so it can work without you being in the room. See [Channels overview](/channels/overview).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Follow what it's doing">
    The **Activity** section of the agent panel shows its timeline in real time — every turn, tool call, and sub-agent, with status and duration. This is your main window into what an autonomous agent is actually doing. See [Activity](/guides/activity).
  </Step>
</Steps>
