# Twist

> Connect Twist to your Atako agents — 10 read and 4 write actions.

Let your agents work in your Twist workspaces — read channels, threads and comments, open threads, reply, send direct messages and keep track of unread threads.

## Connection

* **Authentication**: API key (Twist API token).

<Note>
  Sign in to Twist, open the App Console (twist.com/app\_console) and create a "General integration". On the integration's page, open the OAuth section and copy the test token. It acts as your own Twist account with full scope access: the agent reads and posts exactly what you can, so connect an account that only belongs to the workspaces and channels the agent should see.

  See [Twist's documentation](https://twist.com/app_console).
</Note>

## Read actions (10)

| Action | Description |
| - | - |
| `get_thread` | Fetch one thread (title, content, participants, last\_obj\_index). |
| `list_channels` | List the channels of a workspace (full channel objects). archived=true returns only archived channels. |
| `list_comments` | List the comments of a thread (20 by default, up to 500), newest first unless order\_by=asc. newer\_than\_ts / older\_than\_ts are Unix timestamps passed as strings. |
| `list_conversation_messages` | List the messages of a direct-message conversation (20 by default, up to 500), newest first unless order\_by=asc. |
| `list_conversations` | List the account's direct-message conversations in a workspace (20 by default, up to 500), most recently active first. |
| `list_groups` | List the user groups of a workspace — gives the group ids used for group notifications and mentions. |
| `list_threads` | List the threads of a channel (20 by default, up to 500), newest activity first unless order\_by=asc. |
| `list_unread_threads` | List the unread threads of the account in a workspace (channel\_id, thread\_id, obj\_index, direct\_mention). |
| `list_workspace_users` | List the members of a workspace (id, name, email, user type) — gives the user ids used for recipients and mentions. |
| `list_workspaces` | List the workspaces (teams) the account belongs to — gives the workspace\_id every other action needs. |

## Write actions (4)

| Action | Description |
| - | - |
| `add_comment` | Reply in a thread. Arguments: thread\_id (integer); content (string, Markdown; mention a user as [Name](twist-mention://user_id)); recipients (optional: array of integer user ids, or the string "EVERYONE\_IN\_THREAD" (default) or "EVERYONE"); groups, direct\_mentions, direct\_group\_mentions (optional arrays of integer ids). |
| `create_thread` | Open a new thread in a channel. Arguments: channel\_id (integer, from list\_channels); title (string, 1 to 300 characters); content (string, Markdown; mention a user as [Name](twist-mention://user_id)); recipients (optional: array of integer user ids, or the string "EVERYONE" — omitted = the channel members, \[] = nobody notified); groups, direct\_mentions, direct\_group\_mentions (optional arrays of integer ids). |
| `mark_thread_read` | Mark a thread as read for the account. Arguments: thread\_id (integer); obj\_index (integer, index of the last read comment — the obj\_index from list\_unread\_threads or the last\_obj\_index from get\_thread). |
| `send_conversation_message` | Send a message in an existing direct-message conversation. Arguments: conversation\_id (integer, from list\_conversations); content (string, Markdown; mention a user as [Name](twist-mention://user_id)); direct\_mentions, direct\_group\_mentions (optional arrays of integer ids). |

## Permissions

Every action above must be explicitly granted to an agent before it can be used. See [Permissions](/integrations/permissions) for the grant model and [Security](/integrations/security) for how credentials are protected.
