Connection

Authentication: API key.

Sign in at docs.perplexity.ai → Settings → API Keys → Generate. Copy the key (starts with pplx-). Keys grant full API access (no scopes to configure).See Perplexity’s documentation.

Action	Description
`ask`	Ask a question and get a web-grounded answer with citations. The body is: model (string, one of “sonar”, “sonar-pro”, “sonar-reasoning-pro”, “sonar-deep-research”), messages (array of {role:“user”, content:“<question>”}), max_tokens (integer, optional). Returns choices[0].message.content (the answer text) and citations (array of source URLs).
`search`	Search the web and retrieve ranked results. The body is: query (string), max_results (integer, 1-20, default 10), search_domain_filter (array of strings, optional), search_recency_filter (one of “hour”,“day”,“week”,“month”,“year”, optional). Returns results[] with title, url, snippet, date, and last_updated.
